Maria Bassett, the town controller for Leesburg, Virginia, recently achieved the Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) designation, marking a significant milestone in her career. She pursued the certification to validate her expertise and commitment to government finance. Having recently transitioned to a new job in a different state, earning the CPFO designation within a year of starting reaffirmed her capabilities and provided a strong foundation for continued success. Now, she hopes to inspire the next generation of finance professionals by demonstrating the value of the CPFO program and its role in fostering excellence in government finance.
